Learn what happens to your waste during a 2-hour tour of SWA's facility in West Palm Beach, the only one of its kind in Florida. Presentations are designed to introduce South Florida residents to SWA's integrated solid waste management system and show them what it means to "recycle right" as a Florida homeowner.
The SWA Education Program is actively involved in educating the public about the importance of reducing, reusing, recycling and rethinking solid waste.
Participants will see two new renewable energy processing plants, a recovered materials processing facility, and the SWA Greenway Trail System.
Learn how SWA processes used motor oil, filters, antifreeze, pesticides, propane gas cylinders, unwanted fuels and gasoline, marine flares, mercury and fluorescent lights, paint, electronics, batteries, used cooking oil, sharps and needles, along with unwanted pharmaceuticals.
The tour starts and ends at the SWA Education Center on Jog Road.
After the 2-hour SWA facility tour, enjoy a mid-afternoon lunch with fellow USAers and guests at the nearby Cracker Barrel restaurant in West Palm Beach.
